Los Angeles (myFOXla.com) - Rapper 'Dolla' was shot and killed in front of The Beverly Center Mall in Los Angeles this afternoon. A person of interest in the shooting was later detained at Los Angeles International Airport.
Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was an up and coming Atlanta-based rapper signed to Akon's Convikt music label.
The shooting near the La Cienega Boulevard entrance to the mall's parking structure was reported at 3:10 p.m.
Publicist Sue Vannasing told the Los Angeles Times that Burton and another rapper who goes by the name D.J. Shabbazz, were waiting at a valet stand after a shopping trip when a gunman shot Dolla.
The 20-year-old was taken to nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died.
Police and coroner's officials have not confirmed the victim's identity.
Meantime, police say a person of interest with a gun was detained at Los Angeles International Airport and is being questioned.
